About the Academy
The Drikung Lotus Mount Academy of Buddhist Studies (Drikung Pe-Tsek Nang-Cho Lob-Ling), named by H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, is a project initiated by Venerable Ontul Rinpoche and the Venerable Ogyen Drodul Dorje Rinpoche.
Its aim is to teach Buddhist monks Buddha Dharma, how to perform liturgies, how to play ritual instruments, as well as Tibetan, Math, Hindi and English. The education will be up to class 5 and follow the Indian CBSE system. The course will last for 9 years and in the final year the monks will complete their Ngon-Dro practice. After this time the monks may choose to go onto the Kagyu College in Dehra Dun to further study Buddhist Philosophy, go on long term retreat, or stay at the monastery to perform daily puja and other rituals. They will also have a chance to join a Tibetan or Indian school for further studies. Young monks around 5 or 6 years of age will first do the preliminary practice, which entails learning to read and write basic Tibetan, Hindi and English. Next they will join the 1st year of the Academy. Older monks will proceed straight into the 1st year of the Academy. |

The academy will welcome monks from the Himalaya region regardless of cast, creed or background. The Rinpoches would like the academy to become a realm of wisdom, compassion and tolerance to benefit all sentient beings. An environment that is conducive to learning, that is peaceful, and one that will plant the seed of enlightenment into each monks mind. Ogyen Drodul Dorje Rinpoche sees the project very much as a 'stepping stone' for the monk's to go onto higher studies. |

The project will entail building a new monks hostel to accommodate up to 150 monks, 6 classrooms with a library/computer room attached, a dining hall, staff quarters,a new Prayer Hall, accommodation for when H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche and other high lama's visit, office/reception and a free clinic for everyone in the area. This is an ambitious project, but one that is very much needed in these degenerate times. The project has been split into three phases (see Phase 1, Phase 2 Phase 3) to ensure the essential buildings are started without delay. |

It is quite impossible to find the Buddha anywhere other than in one's own mind.
A person who is ignorant of this may seek externally, but how is it possible to find oneself through seeking anywhere other than in oneself!
Someone who seeks their own nature externally is like a fool who, giving a performance in the middle of a crowd, forgets who he is and then seeks everywhere else to find himself.
