4th Oddiyana Retreat 2009

Wogmin Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery in Tso Pema have great pleasure in announcing the 4 th Oddiyana Retreat Starting on 1 st February 2009.

His Eminence Lho Ontul Rinpoche will be teaching on the following subjects:

• Sun and moon Amulet (Breathing Yoga) from Yangzab Terma Cycle revealed by Drikung Rinchen Phuntsok

• Swift Path to Sukhavati concise Phowa Practice - Nuden Dorje

•  Swiftly perfecting the two accumulations through the offering of the body - Rainbow body attainment Chod - Nuden Dorje

Please note that the teachings are in Tibetan with an English translation.

The teaching will commence on 1 st February 2009 and end on 7 th February. On the 8 th there will be a smoke puja at the monastery. There will then be a 7 day tour of Bodhgaya and Varanasi. Lho Ontul Rinpoche will accompany the participants on the tour and will give regular teachings and meditation sessions.

Accommodation in Tso Pema

Accommodation is available in the monastery, but the space is limited. So we have special arrangements with various hotels and guest houses in Tso Pema. Please see the booking form for a full list of accommodation and costings. We will do our best to accommodate you in your preferred hotel, however rooms will be booked on a first come first served basis. You may put your first and second preference on the booking form to make it easier for us to accommodate you.



Meals

Meals can be taken at the monastery for a cost of $10 per person, per day. The buffet style vegetarian meals will be available from the morning of    31 st January till 8 th February.   The Drikung Monastery would like to offer a complimentary breakfast to all participants on the morning of 31 st January, as this is when the coach arrives from Delhi. Please indicate on the booking form if you require meals at the monastery. Please note that all meals must be booked in advance and cannot be taken on a day by day basis.



Tour

The tour details are as follows:

Feb. 8th/9 th - Leave Tso Pema for Delhi. Upon arrival board train for overnight to Gaya.

10 th - Arrive Gaya and drive to Bodhgaya. Upon arrival check in to Hotel. Visit Mahabodhi stupa where Rinpoche will teach on Bodhicitta and give the Bodhisattva vows. In the evening Rinpoche will lead Chod practice in the local area.

11 th - Day excursion to Rajgir and Nalanda. In Rajgir Rinpoche will lead the recitation of the Heart Sutra (Sherab Nyingpo). Overnight at the same Hotel in Bodhgaya.

12 th - Visit Sujata village and also the place where Buddha stayed on a 6 year retreat. Here Rinpoche will lead a meditation session.

13 th - Leave Bodhgaya for Varanasi. Upon arrival check into Hotel. Visit Sarnath Stupa and surrounding area. At the Stupa there will be a ''Gana Chakra Tsok Offering''.

14 th - Early morning visit to the Ganges River for boat cruise.

In the afternoon leave for train station to board train to Delhi.

15 th - Upon arrival in Delhi, transfer to Tibetan guest house till noon. In the evening the group will transfer to airport.

Teachings

All Dharma teachings are free of charge , however as is the Buddhist tradition one can make offerings (dana / generosity) towards the teacher and the monastery. The monastery depends solely on the generosity and kindness of the students and devotees for its running costs and for taking care of the monks and nuns.   Anything offered over the retreat period will be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you are able please think of bring with you reading books - Buddhist and fictional - and/or medical supplies for the monks. If you can do this it will be extremely helpful for the monastery. Please contact the office on drikung_petsek@yahoo.com for details of requirements.
